Hacktoberfest, the annual event, is about to begin! We are thrilled to participate in the 10th annual Hacktoberfest with two projects - LF Edge eKuiper and NanoMQ. We invite developers from around the world to join us in this exciting event!
About Hacktoberfest
Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open-source hosted by DigitalOcean. It encourages developers to contribute to open-source projects and rewards them with digital swag kits. Participating in Hacktoberfest not only provides developers with the satisfaction of making a positive impact in the open source community but also allows them to receive recognition for their contributions.
LF Edge eKuiper and NanoMQ
LF Edge eKuiper is a lightweight IoT data analytics and stream processing engine running on resource-constraint edge devices. The major goal for eKuiper is to provide a streaming software framework on the edge side. The primary language of eKuiper is Golang.
NanoMQ is an open-source edge computing project released in Jan 2021 and it is the next generation of lightweight, high-performance MQTT messaging broker for the IoT edge computing scenario. The main development language for NanoMQ is C.
How to Participate
- Register for Hacktoberfest anytime between September 26 and October 31.
- Start contributing to eKuiper:
- Before making contributions, check out the eKuiper Contribution guide.
- Choose an issue labeled "Hacktoberfest" in eKuiper or any other issues that interest you from the issue tracker.
- Start contributing to NanoMQ:
- Choose an issue labeled "Hacktoberfest" in NanoMQ or any other issues that interest you from the issue tracker.
- Wait for your pull/merge requests to be merged by the project maintainers to count toward your total.
Rewards
To ensure sustainability for the next decade, Hacktoberfest organizers will be transitioning from providing t-shirt rewards to a digital reward kit.
- The first 50,000 participants to have their first PR/MR accepted will have a tree planted in their name through Tree Nation
- Participants with four pull/merge requests accepted between October 1 and October 31 will receive a unique digital reward
- In addition, EMQ has prepared something special for our contributors! During Hacktoberfest, contributors who have had 2 or more pull requests accepted in the eKuiper or NanoMQ projects will receive a custom EMQ t-shirt!
By participating in Hacktoberfest, you'll have the opportunity to work on impactful open source projects and collaborate with a vibrant community of developers.
